What “Green” Means to Louisville Metro

What “Green” Means to Louisville Metro

Monday, April 7, 2008 – Dinner Meeting

INTRODUCTION:

Mr. Pullen will be discussing what “Green” means to the Louisville Metro area. In addition, he will be addressing the various building projects being considered and the positive impact they will make.

TOPICS/SPEAKERS:

The speaker this month is Mr. Ted Pullen, Director of Public Works, Louisville Metro Government. Ted Pullen spent years at airports and coal mines before joining the newly merged Louisville Metro Government in 2004. Pullen, a civil engineer, is responsible for the administration of the city’s solid waste collection and disposal services, recycling programs, street cleaning, and snow and storm debris removal programs. He is also instrumental in shaping the city’s environmental policies and practices through the Go Green Louisville initiative.

Pullen manages one of the city’s largest departments – responsible for more than 700 employees, nearly 200 buildings, and 2600 vehicles. Innovative new practices, such implementing an overnight crew to handle snow and potholes, have made Pullen and Louisville an example for other cities to follow.

The cost for attending is $25.00, cash or check (made payable to ASHRAE). Students and university facility may attend for $5.00.
